Botanical Candle Care Guide

Preparation

The Inaugural Burn

  • Unpack with Care: Remove all tags, ribbons, labels, and packaging materials before lighting your candle.
  • Wick Preparation: Always trim the wick to a height of 5–10 mm. Maintaining this length prevents uneven burning, excessive dripping, or dangerously high flames.
  • Surface Protection: Unlike container candles, sculptural pieces do not have walls to hold the melted wax. To prevent damage to your furniture, always place them on a heat-resistant tray or plate to safely collect any drippings.

During Use

The Radiant Hour

The Perfection of the Pool (Memory Pool)

For each session, allow the wax to melt until it reaches approximately 0.5 cm from the edge before extinguishing the flame.

  • Purpose: This process establishes a "memory pool," ensuring an even burn and preventing the "tunneling" effect.
Avoid "Power Burning"

Unlike harder waxes, botanical blends of coconut and olive become highly fluid if burned excessively.

  • Technical Limit: Do not exceed 4 hours of continuous burning.
  • Warning: Overheating may cause the wax to become too soft to support the wick vertically, risking it leaning or "drowning" in the melt pool.
Fragrance Sweating

In high-temperature environments, fragrance oils may form small beads (beading) on the surface of the wax.

  • Status: Harmless; it does not affect the quality or performance.
  • Action: Avoid exposing the candle to direct sunlight or heat sources (such as radiators) during operation.
Spatial Harmony & The Final Measure
  • Safety Distance: Maintain at least 7–10 cm between candles to prevent thermal transfer that could deform the exterior walls.
  • End of Life: Discontinue use when the wax layer at the base reaches 0.5 cm.

Aftercare

The Silent Close

The Art of the Snuffer

Whenever possible, use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. This refined method prevents the splattering of molten wax and ensures the surface of your candle remains pristine and smooth.

The Purity of Air

Avoid blowing out the candle, as this can cause smoke to linger and interfere with the remaining botanical fragrance.

Warning: Never use water to extinguish a flame; the reaction can cause hot wax to splatter violently or flare up.

The Final Vigilance

Before departing the room, ensure the flame is entirely extinguished and the wick ember no longer glows. A silent, dark wick is the only sign of a completed ritual.

The Moment of Rest

Allow the candle to remain undisturbed until the wax has fully set and the vessel is cool to the touch. Moving the candle while the coconut-olive blend is still liquid may compromise its level surface and artistic form.

Pro-Tips

The Maintenance

  • The Vigilant Flame: Should the flame flicker repeatedly or rise too high, extinguish it immediately. Allow the wax to reset and trim the wick before re-introducing the light, ensuring the environment is free of drafts.
  • Spatial Integrity: Never place a flame near flammable textures - curtains, books, or delicate linens. Ensure the candle sits upon a stable, heat-resistant surface, far from the reach of curious pets or children.
  • The Presence of Mind: A flame should never exist in solitude. Always extinguish your candles before resting for the evening or departing a room.
  • The Uninterrupted Set: Refrain from moving a candle while the flame is active or the coconut-olive wax remains in its liquid state. This preserves both the safety of your surfaces and the level beauty of the wax.
  • Scent Memory: To experience the full complexity of the fragrance, allow the candle to burn for at least 30 minutes. This allows the top notes to transition into the deeper heart of the botanical blend.
  • The Seasonal Rest: When not in use, store your candles in a cool, dark place. Natural olive and coconut waxes can be sensitive to UV light, which may subtly alter their color over time.
  • Vessel Rebirth: Once your candle has reached its final burn, the remaining wax can be gently removed with warm soapy water, allowing the vessel to be repurposed as a decorative object or a botanical planter.
